Questions About Services:
When and/or how should I use the steam room?
It is best to use the steam room before the massage appointments because the heat allows the muscles to become more pliable to work with. The steam room is set to slowly increase temperature and will not exceed 100 degrees. If you have a preference of aromatherapy please let our staff know.
Is there is difference between choosing a male or female massage therapist?
There is no difference. If you would like to specify on a specific modality, please inform us because each therapists specializes in various modalities. Please do inform us if you have a preference or no preference. Your comfort is important to us.
Should I bring a bathing suit for sunless tanning treatments?
We provide disposable undergarments for both our female and male clientele.
Does the Spa provide any amenities or should I bring my own items?
We provide our clients who are having multiple services and/or showering with robes, sandals, and towels, as well as lockers to place their personal belongings. We provide hair dryers, combs, deodorant, soap, lotion, razors, shampoo & conditioner
Is it ok for ladies to receive treatments during their period?
Yes it is fine to receive massage, facials, acupuncture, and body treatments. If you are booked for a bikini waxing or Brazilian waxing we do not recommend receiving the treatment for sanitary reasons. Waxing during your menstrual cycle can also cause skin sensitivity due to water retention. Some essential oils may also cause some ladies to have a heavier flow.
Does the extraction during a facial involve lancet needles?
Not always. Most extractions are done by the estheticians fingers protected with gloves but lancets are used when needed.
Is it alright to eat right before or after my services?
It is best to eat 30-45 minutes before your services or have a light meal just before. There should be no problem having a meal after your services are completed.
Is it ok to put make-up on after my facial?
It is fine to apply make-up after a facial but not recommended. However, we suggest to any client, to have their products screened by their esthetician for ingredients that are know to clog the skins pores. A treatment foundation or moisturizer that contains sunscreen and vitamins is also suggested especially during the summer months.
How long should I wait to receive my next facial?
For most clients, maintenance facial once per month is recommended to clean and hydrate the skin. However, if a client's skin has special concerns that need to be addressed, such as pigmentation disorders or infected acne, a treatment twice a month or even weekly might be recommended by their skin care therapist. Consult with your esthetician on the frequency of facial treatments
What kinds of ingredients are included in your products?
All of our products carry various ingredients but for the most part are all natural botanicals. Depending on what you are allergic to, it is best to inform our staff prior to receiving your treatment.
What types of creams or oils do you use for massage?
We use Grapeseed massage oil, which is great for clients who have nut allergies, aromatherapy oils, massage cream and massage gel. If you have a preference please let your therapist know.
What type of wax does Village Day Spa use?
We use 3 different types of wax for our clients: Azulene Wax which is derived from the chamomile plant and helps sooth and calm sensitive skin. Honey Wax which is made from all natural pine resin and beeswax and is great for all skin types and Tea Tree Cream Wax which is made with tea tree oil, a powerful antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal essential oil and is great for sensitive skin.
What is the difference between all of your bikini waxes?
The main difference in the bikini waxes is the amount of hair that is removed during the waxing.
Bikini – only about 1.5 inches is removed on the bikini area.
Bikini Shaping – about 4 inches of hair is removed on both sides of the bikini area and some hair is removed from the top as well.
Brazilian Bikini – all of the hair in the bikini area is completely removed. In some cases a very small strip is left.
Is it best to shave before any of your treatments?
We recommend that you do not shave before any waxing or scrub appointments. If you shave before your wax treatment, you must have at least 1inch of hair in order to wax. Be aware that shaving may cause in hair growth and irritation. Shaving will cause irritation during the scrub treatment.
It is best for men to shave their facial area in the morning and to book their facial in the afternoon or evening. This way, their skin will not be sensitive during the facial, and the skin will still be smooth enough for the esthetician to perform the treatment comfortably for the gentleman.
I’m pregnant, what types of treatments can I receive?
A pregnant client needs to focus on unique treatments that will make her body feel especially good during this special time of her life. For our pregnant clients we offer a Prenatal Massage, where the client lays on her side and is propped and positioned comfortably with pillows. Regarding facials, pregnant clients may ONLY book a European facial or Deep Cleansing facial. Pregnant clients CAN NOT receive any of the following treatments: Hot Stone, Microdermabrasion or the Aromatherapy Facials. With body treatments, a pregnant client cannot have wraps due to the fact that raising the core body temperature during pregnancy is dangerous for the fetus. However, anyone of our scrubs will make an expecting client feel fabulous. (Note: All treatments for pregnant woman can only be performed once she has entered her second trimester.)
Is it ok for anyone underage to receive treatments?
Village Day Spa will cater to clients as young as 10 years old with a signed consent from their guardian. Their guardian must also be present at the spa during time of their service.
Should I tell my therapists if I have any medical problems or if I'm` using any prescription medicine?
Yes! Absolutely. This information is very important to all treatments. It will be held in the strictest of confidence. Please inform our reception staff and your therapist of any and all medical problems and medications that you are currently taking prior to treatment.
I have never received a massage, which one should I get?
It is usually best to reserve the Swedish or Signature massage. Swedish is your basic massage that improves muscle tone, circulation and joint flexibility. Signature is a combination of Swedish Deep Tissue and Hot Stone for those that need a little extra TLC.
I have never received a facial, which one should I get?
The best facial to receive if you have never had one before is our European Facial. This is a one-hour treatment where the therapist will cater the treatment to your specific skincare needs. It also includes a thorough skin analysis in which the esthetician may make recommendations as to what treatments are best for you. The skin care therapist will also recommend the best follow-up treatment for your skin condition that would help to improve your skin.
Products
What types of skin care lines does Village Day Spa use and is it available to purchase?
We carry many skin care lines, including Control, DDF, Hylunia, and our all natural line BeyJing. Although some of the products used during our facials are for professional use only, a majority of the products are available in retail sizes.
What if I have a reaction to a product I purchased?
As soon as the reaction occurs please call us immediately so that we may try to determine what may have caused the reaction. You may also bring in the product so that we may issue you a credit.
Policies
Can I apply my gift certificate to another service?
Yes you can, except for acupuncture, but we will redeem the gift certificate in a dollar amount (the value of the service). If the service value is less than the gift certificate value, you will have a Village Day Spa credit. This credit can only be applied to another service or product. You can not use this credit to get cash back, tip the therapists or purchase another gift certificate.
Do I still have to pay full price for my services if I am late?
Yes. Punctuality is very important when receiving spa services. When coming in for services we ask that you please arrive 15 minutes prior to your service starting time. We have our scheduling procedures down to a science to permit the proper amount of time to complete each service. Being late to your appointment will result in a reduction of time and a FULL charge for your service in order to maintain punctuality for our other guests and to accommodate our staff for their time.
Can I give my gift certificate to a friend and/or family member?
Yes you can, but it must be the original gift certificate. A new gift certificate will NOT be issued if you wish to re-gift your gift certificate.
Do you offer lunch or catering?
Village Day Spa offers light refreshments such as water and a variety of tea along with cookies in our sun room. If you would like to add lunch to your services it is an additional $10. We can also recommend a variety of restaurants in the area that we are sure you will love.
Do you provide space for events or private parties?
Yes. Although it is difficult to accommodate large groups we are able to accommodate 6 massages and 3 facials at one time for birthday, bridal or bachlorette party. When booking a party of 5 or more we work to customize services to your needs. Village Day Spa also offers a complimentary bagel breakfast with mimosas for morning parties and a wine and cheese platter for afternoon and evening parties.*All guests must present valid 21 ID to receive mimosas and wine.
I’m holding an outside event, how do I go about booking outcall events?
Please give us at least 1 week in advance to reserve any outside events. You must specify whether you would like regular table massage or chair massage and how many therapists will be needed for the event. Please call us at (914) 337-7727and ask to speak to our event planner.
Can I use my Series towards another treatment not included in my package?
Yes. If the service is more than what the series was issued for you are responsible to pay the difference.
What is your policy on lost Gift Certificates?
Gift certificates are treated as cash and are not replaceable if lost or stolen. The bearer of the gift certificate is completely responsible for its loss or theft. Village Day Spa can not replace any lost gift cards.
How can I get updates of your special promotions?
You can go onto our website and subscribe on our home page for exclusive monthly specials. If you are interested in our website monthly specials, you can check on our special promotions page. Our promotions page is updated monthly and is not applicable towards gift certificates or can not be combined with any discounts.
Do you provide parking? Are there parking lots by your locations?
We offer two parking spots in the back of the building. Spots I and J are available on a first come first serve basis. There is 2 hour metered parking in the front of the building and along Kraft Ave. If you would like some one to feed your meter while you are in session please inform the receptionist. *Village Day Spa is NOT responsible for parking tickets.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel your appointments with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged 100% of the total cost of the treatment(s) reserved under your credit card or gift certificate. Credit card/gift certificate details are required to secure bookings. Same day bookings and cancellations are subject to a 50% charge.
